Happy days at Ichinen Bridport Jiu-Jitsu! Thursday the 17.11.22 our member Paul Blake (43) from Bridport graduated as a 1st Dan black belt in traditional Jiu-Jitsu. Big congratulations from all of us to Paul! This was an excellent demonstration of Jiu-Jitsu skills.

Paul started his path with Jiu-Jitsu already in 1995 at Ichinen Bridport. January 2019 Paul took private lessons with Master Horst Lindenau and joined the regular Jiu-jitsu classes too. The last 12 months Paul was an assistant coach at the club, teaching children and adults.

The grading was supervised according to international standards by three black belts. Senior examiner was Sensei Steve Reynolds (5th Dan) from Yeovil, he was assisted by Master Lewis A. Harris (2nd Dan) and Master Andy Loudon (1st Dan), both from Bridport.

Grading partner for the technical skills was Master Horst D. Lindenau (3rd Dan), Mike Eves-Beaumont (2nd Kyu) acted for the demonstration of the 10 most common attacks and Jim Eves (1st Kyu) with Sam Saines (4th Kyu) + Mike did the 3 men attacks. The randori fight over 4 min was done with partner Sam Saines. Paul demonstrated 2 Kata, the complete program of rolls and falls, including on hard floor and finally a theory test. All black belt graduates have to write an essay, have a valid DBS certificate, 1st aid training and various seminars including the coaching course.
