Ichinen Bridport was first started by Jiu-Jitsu master Horst Lindenau. He continued his school from Germany when arrived in Bridport 33 years ago. Since than the club has offered various teachings. Beside the main training in traditional Jiu-Jitsu, there been groups for Anti-Terrorkampf, later renamed to Anti Terror Combat and since 2018 this was renamed into BlackCombat, a purely self defence system. But at the club we had too Karate for a few years, Yoga and meditation classes as well as many seminars, as from Mindfulness to car self defence.

I guess over 1000 students were educated at the various styles and more than 25 black belts came out of it.

On the 14th of May 2026, master Paul Blake (2nd Dan Jiu-Jitsu) and Yoga teacher took over the school from master Horst. Paul teaches now adults and children in Jiu-Jitsu, as well as yoga for adults.

Master Horst is going to visit the homeland of the Jiu-Jitsu Japan and later he will continue the BlackCombat training. Best wishes for master Paul and his team for the future and many many thanks for all the students they been attending to the 1000s of sessions so far, and more to come!
